Classy and Fabulous

Katie is just that. She is one of the most classy and sassy of my friends by far. We had a lot of fun shooting this stylized session. Shooting a stylized session has never been one of my strong points but after shooting three separate sessions with Katie this past week using nothing but pulled together materials for props and old lamps for the only lighting I admit I might have fallen in love with the drama of it all. 

As someone who shoots mostly documentary photography I am at the mercy of unplanned events, unpleasant lighting, and sometimes uncooperative subjects. I love the realness and simplicity of documentary photography and it is still my most heartfelt of all my photographs, but there is a more dreamy side of stylized sessions. You can create a story a bit more dramatic or romantic than your own life. I love that side of photography as well. I love how I can create a story even if it is a bit too dreamy and perfect for real life. The sky is the limit. It really is.
